Well, Saturday morning, 9.11am, Emmett Place in Cork City, that was the start to the day for us. Cork City Council were erecting the stage & the band members from “Hell for Leather” “Amadans & Bodhrans” “The Buachaills” & of course “Gaelic Brew” started to unload the vans. After a sound check, Paul Murtagh opened & the history of the first “PURE CORK FOLK & TRAD FESTIAL” was made. Cork City hosted one of what must have been a highlight in the ”Free Entertainment” category. The brain child of Paul was a fantastic show of pure trad, exceptional singers, finest instrument playing & good all-round fun.
WGaelic Brew took to the stage at 4pm & belted out hits such as ‘Spancill Hill’, ‘Highland Paddy’, ‘Galway Girl’ ‘Celtic Symphony’ our now near famous ‘Medley’ & of course, catering for the very young members of the audience we did ‘Bob The Builder’.
The day was closed by the energetic & totally mental lads from “Hell for Leather” (honestly……I think there’s something seriously wrong with those boys hahaha, but I suppose it takes one to know one eh?) & after the lads set, all the participants from the day’s line-up ascended onto the stage for one final hurrah & banged out the hit “Dirty Old Town”.
If you were there, we thank you very much for your support, if you missed it, we hope to make this an annual event but you’ll have to wait another 12months.
Band Line Up was as follows:
Ri Rua (Paul Murtagh & Noel)
Amadans & Bodhrans (Paul, Noel & Brian)
Seamus Mathews (what a singer & true gentleman)
The Buachaills joined with Mike Carey from “Hell for Leather”
Andy Dunne & Barry

Shannon Murphy (from ”The Voice”)
Roy Buckley & Johnny
Hell for Leather
All of the above for last song.
