Well folkn’ Brewers, we can officially confirm that GAELIC BREW’s Debut at The Balver Hohle Festival in Balve, Germany was an amazing success. Over 2,500 people each night packed into the Balve Caves for the Irish Celtic & Folk Festival for. The festival was spread over 3 days and was once again a great success, and Gaelic Brew helped by playing their part.
Taking to the stage at 8pm on Friday night, we opened with a roaring rendition of “Dirty Old Town” and immediately had the crowd claping, dancing and swaying along with us. We performed over 30 classic Irish drinking songs and ballads and were asked to come back for a finale, which we gracefully obliged and did “The Hills of Donegal”.
What an amazing venue, amazing people, electric atmosphere and a whirl-wind first visit to Germany for us. The feedback was extremely positive so hopefully we will be back again.
We must say a massive thank you to Mr. Sean Reeves for putting our name forward to the committee. Sean’s hospitality, knowledge and contacts know no boundaries and we would like to sincerely thank him for supporting Gaelic Brew. We must also thank Mrs. Waltermann for putting us up in a wonderful B&B and would highly recommend her business as an ideal place to stay if you are in the area. We should also mention our travel comrades, a band based out of the Tyrone/Dundalk are called “All Folked Up”. These lads were outstanding musicians and a total bunch of mental cases………ideal travelling companions for Gaelic Brew.
